Richard

We recently received an email from one of our users that has really inspired us here at HQ. We would like to share his story and words of wisdom to hopefully encourage others to follow his example. Richard has been an avid user of our app, and he let us know that by using it, he’s been able to get on track with his personal weight loss goal. We think he has some awesome insight into how someone looking to lose weight can achieve success – just check out Richard’s before and after pictures!

“Hello. My name is Richard Oliver, I am 39 years old.
First off, thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Your app and its partners are the reason I was able to lose the weight I have, & feel the way I feel. Without you guys I would not be where I’m at right now. When I decided to start my journey, I was 289 lbs. At that moment I weighed myself I realized that this has to stop. I am in the last half of my life am I going to take this with me to the grave. Because I’m watching my calorie intake and expenditure, it is extremely important for me to have a calories burned count based on that. I started out using another fitness app MMF, but I noticed that it counted way too many calories from the beginning. Come to find out its counts are based on the sport and movement versus actual heart rate data.
Using your app, I have been able to more efficiently and more effectively lose weight.

YOU GUYS DID IT RIGHT! You left the nutrition portion out, and left it to the people who focus on it, like you focus on exercise and training. I am 39 pounds down now in total from the 289lbs. I was 283.6 when I started using apps for help. I am only 5’9. I looked in the mirror last night and I have hips, lol, I started crying, seeing this transformation that has taken place. Changing my appearance and my health is the single most powerful experience of my life. Since I was six years old, I’ve been overweight. If can pass some solid advice along to others like me. It’s not a (Diet) that is a filthy dirty word that automatically insinuates you’re going to do something for a period of time and then stop. It is a slight lifestyle change. You don’t change anything else just your diet (diet meaning the foods and amounts you consume.) for good and permanently.

Above all else love yourself; your body will follow:
0: GET ENDOMONDO APP! & USE IT!
1: Get a support system of friends
2: Get a nutrition app for calorie tracking and food journal
2 1/2: start slow; don’t change the foods you eat just how much you eat of them. Don’t try to do everything at once or you’ll fail. After a month or so of just smaller portions, switch to healthier foods.
3: Learn about your BMR (Google it)
4: Learn gross calories vs. net calories
5: DO NOT EAT THE CALORIES YOU BURNED! If you want to lose weight fast.
6: Don’t be discouraged about plateaus; it’s your body adjusting to its new weight. As long as you eat under your BMR you’ll begin to lose weight again in two to four days.
7: NEVER USE THE WORD DIET – I BELIEVE THE WORD ALONE IS DANGEROUS. CHANGING YOUR DIET IS GREAT, GOING ON A DIET IS ALWAYS DISASTROUS, DIETS SAY IM GONNA DRINK LEMON WATER OR JUICES OR PILLS FOR A PERIOD OF TIME AND STOP. Guess what happens when you stop.
8: THIS IS A JOURNEY NOT A RACE. Races like diets, have an ending, journeys can last a lifetime if you want them to.

THANK YOU ENDOMONDO.
I feel better than I ever have. I have more confidence, I’m happier, healthier, I’m better than I was, period.

Sincerely,
Richard Douglas Oliver II
Thank you for being a part of my journey.”

You’re very welcome, Richard! You look awesome! Hearing stories like yours reaffirms our belief that we are on the right track changing the way people get fit, and we wish you continued success on your journey.

Thanks for freeing your endorphins with us!
