It has been almost five years since Endomondo was founded and the journey has been amazing. We get tons of emails every day from users that have found joy in exercising by using our app and nothing makes us happier than receiving those emails. Your kind words have been incredibly motivational for all of us here at Endomondo.
Since the launch of the beta version of the site, we’ve gone to great lengths to avoid ads on Endomondo—simply because we value the user experience above all else. However, since our user base has grown at an astonishing rate (11 million users and counting), it’s getting costly to keep the service up and running while continuously working on improving it. Improvement is very important to us on both the mobile and web. We want you to have the best of the best.
Over the next few weeks, we will introduce ads on the free Android and iPhone apps and on our website. We realize that you probably prefer an ad free service, but we hope you understand that we need funds to push forward and continue to make fitness fun and motivational. If you prefer not to see ads, you can avoid them in the app by upgrading to the PRO version and on web by subscribing to Athlete’s Lounge. The PRO app costs $4.99 and Athlete’s Lounge costs $6 per month or $39 per year.
If you’re using the free version of the app, you may also notice that we will suggest an upgrade to the PRO version more frequently than we have in the past. You don’t have to upgrade, but if you enjoy our service we would highly appreciate your support.
