A Smartwatch App That Stands Alone

Android Wear Maps

Android Wear fans, you asked and we listened. We are thrilled to introduce our very first standalone app for Android Wear!  Our standalone app for the Sony Smartwatch 3 lets you enjoy the benefits of Android Wear and Endomondo together at last.

Equipped with the app and your Smartwatch, you can leave your phone at home when you work out, so you can have a phone-free experience and free your endorphins like never before. All you need to do is to connect your phone with the Smartwatch and make sure you are using the Free version of Endomondo on your phone. (A note to our PRO users: when you download the Free version and log in with the account associated with your PRO app, all your PRO features will be automatically unlocked).

Android wear settingsYour Sony Smartwatch 3 will act as a display for your Endomondo app. You’ll be able to start, pause or stop a workout while your Endomondo app is running in the background. Swiping between displays will show different stats, such as heart rate, distance, speed or workout duration. You can choose which two stats you want displayed on each of the three available screens. If you want to check out your location, simply tap to expand your map view on your display.

Setting Standalone mode is simple. Launch the Endomondo app on your Smartwatch, access your settings on your phone, go to “Smartwatches” and then “Android Wear”. Under your GPS settings, enable “Use the GPS in your smartwatch (if it has one) or in the phone” to “Smartwatch” (as shown on the screenshot).

After that, you’re all set to start tracking with your watch and leave your phone at home! A neat shortcut for running your app in the background is to just cover the watch with your palm.

Once you finish your workout, the Smartwatch will “talk” to your phone in order to upload your workout to it, so please remember to have both devices in range of one another.

We hope you enjoy working out with out Android Wear app for Sony Smartwatch 3!

Free your endorphins!
