2012 Round-Up: A Year of Endorphins

Endo diamond

2013 is already a week old and we’re excited about what the New Year will bring! Before we look into what to expect from Endomondo in 2013, let’s first have a look at what happened in 2012.

2012 Workouts and Calories
More than 400 million miles have been tracked by Endomondo users generating a total calorie consumption of impressing 36 billion calories! In other words, our community took 1680 trips to the Moon, burning off 67 million burgers. Quite a few endorphins you guys have freed! Running, cycling and walking continue to be the most popular activities tracked.

v2012 Endomondo changelog headlines
Our mobile apps have improved significantly in 2012 – iPhone and Android both got a bunch of new features, a major design overhaul and much improved usability and navigation which will allow us to add even more features in the coming years. See the list below for the main new features on iPhone and Android.

In addition to this, our Windows Phone app was improved significantly, and even though we don’t currently have the resources to make it on par with iPhone and Android in terms of features, we’re happy to see more and more people using it.

We also launched an app for Windows 8 in 2012. This app will allow you to browse through your workouts and see what your friends are up to.

In November gave the website a makeover and expanded our Premium subscription solution to include three new features which were Heart Rate Zones, Weather Information and Workout Comparison. We will continue to add new free and Premium features and appreciate the support from subscribers and users alike. Thank you!

Expectations for 2013
Our mission is to make fitness fun by making fitness more social and more engaging. Social and engaging are the magic words here. We’ll work on both of these objectives in parallel. Making fitness social is about encouraging positive social interaction around the training without sacrificing flexibility. Making fitness engaging is about offering personal, relevant and educating feedback and guidance to enhance the training experience and performance. While we can’t communicate specific features just yet, we can promise you that our roadmap for the coming year is packed with motivating features – most of which a lot of you have asked for.

If you have any specific feature requests, make your voice heard and vote here.

Now go free your endorphins!

  2. For all this I am still forced to use Runtastic Pro because it tells me my heart rate and my heart rate zone I am running/riding in. Used to love Endomondo but it epic fails on this simple feature.

    • Wow you added it finally shame it doesn’t have the heart rate zone currently in it or I would come back.

We NEED a more accurate Windows Phone app. Endomondo keeps counting like 100-200 meters more or less for the SAME distance.

  5. Probably on my way to Strava too.
